Personal effects are not accepted through standard pallet services and may be sent using our DHL service only. Used furniture must be professionally packed by a removal company. Dangerous goods must be declared before booking and may be possible only following manual review and carrier approval.

Food, medical products, batteries and other regulated goods can require additional documents or approval. Check both the carrier’s acceptance conditions and the destination requirements before preparing the shipment.

How to Book a Pallet Delivery to Latvia

Services Between the UK and Latvia

Packing Standards for Latvia Pallet Delivery

A pallet needs to remain stable during collection, terminal handling, transport and delivery. Start with a base suited to the load and check the finished shipment before booking.

• Use a strong, undamaged pallet or crate
• Place heavy items at the base and secure them against movement
• Strap the goods to the pallet, then wrap around the load and pallet base
• Protect corners and edges, and declare any unavoidable overhang
• Keep shipping labels and required wood-packaging marks visible
• Measure and weigh the whole shipment, including the pallet and packaging

Regulated solid-wood pallets, crates and dunnage moving between Great Britain and Latvia must meet ISPM-15 requirements, including the required treatment and legible official mark. Check timber used for bracing and support, not just the pallet base.

Packaging made entirely from processed wood such as plywood or fibreboard is generally exempt. A crate with processed-wood panels and solid-wood supports still needs the regulated components checked. Do not draw or add an ISPM-15 mark yourself.

Customs and Paperwork for Great Britain–Latvia Shipments

Latvia is an EU member state and uses the euro (EUR). Commercial freight between Great Britain and Latvia requires export and import customs formalities. Northern Ireland–EU movements can follow different rules, so identify the actual collection and delivery territories.

The information normally needed includes:

• A Commercial Invoice with itemised descriptions, quantities, values and currency
• Commodity codes, country of origin and full sender and receiver details
• The relevant GB and EU EORI details for the businesses involved
• Agreed Incoterms and a named delivery place
• Proof of origin where preferential duty treatment is claimed
• Any packing list, transport document, licence or certificate required for the goods

Latvian Importer Details and EORI

Latvia’s State Revenue Service, known as VID, handles customs administration. A Latvian business carrying out commercial customs formalities normally needs a valid EU EORI. An EORI issued in another EU member state can be valid throughout the EU; an importer does not need a second one merely because a shipment enters Latvia.

The UK business normally uses a GB EORI for the relevant Great Britain formalities. Confirm who will act as importer and who will submit the declaration. A delivery address, VAT number and EORI serve different purposes and should not be treated as interchangeable.

Import VAT, Duty and Incoterms

Latvia’s standard VAT rate is 21%, with reduced rates or exemptions applying in some circumstances. Import VAT is not necessarily calculated on the goods price alone: the taxable amount can include customs duty and relevant transport or other costs. It is not a complete estimate of every import charge.

Customs duty depends on classification and origin. Goods that meet the UK–EU Trade and Cooperation Agreement’s origin rules may qualify for zero duty when preference is correctly claimed. Dispatch from the UK does not, by itself, give goods UK origin or remove import VAT.

Under DAP, the buyer normally handles import clearance and pays the associated duties and taxes. Under DDP, those responsibilities fall to the seller. DDP must be supported by workable import arrangements and the chosen service; confirm it before booking.
