Enter the collection and delivery postcodes, pallet quantity, weight and dimensions.

2. Choose your service

Select road freight for cost-effective pallet delivery, or air freight for urgent shipments.

3. Prepare your goods

Secure the goods to the pallet, protect corners and edges, and make sure the shipment is safe to handle.

4. Confirm the paperwork

For UK-Czech Republic shipments, you will normally need a Commercial Invoice, EORI details, HS/commodity codes and agreed Incoterms.

5. Book collection

Your shipment is collected from the UK or Czech Republic address, depending on whether you are exporting or importing.

6. Track the shipment

Tracking is available on most services. For part load, full load and specialist freight, updates can be requested during business hours.

7. Delivery in the Czech Republic or the UK

Road and air freight services are arranged door-to-door, with delivery to business and residential addresses where supported by the selected service.

Importing Pallets from the Czech Republic to the UK

Pallet2Ship also arranges pallet imports from the Czech Republic to the UK.

This is useful for UK businesses buying goods from Czech suppliers, returning commercial stock, moving machinery parts, or arranging regular import flows from Central Europe.

For Czech Republic to UK pallet delivery, the Czech sender and UK importer should make sure the paperwork is complete before collection. This usually includes a Commercial Invoice, accurate goods descriptions, HS/commodity codes, values, Incoterms and EORI details.

Packing Standards for Czech Republic Pallet Delivery

Correct packing helps prevent damage, re-rating, failed collections and customs delays.

  • Use a strong pallet in good condition
  • Stack heavy items at the base
  • Strap the goods to the pallet before wrapping
  • Wrap securely and capture the pallet base
  • Protect corners, edges and any overhanging sections
  • Make sure labels are clearly visible
  • Use accurate dimensions and weight when booking

For UK-EU shipments, solid wood pallets, crates and dunnage should be ISPM-15 compliant, heat-treated and clearly stamped. Damaged, untreated or unmarked wooden packaging can cause problems at the border.

For detailed packing examples, see our How to Prepare a Pallet guide .

Services Between the UK and the Czech Republic

Road Freight to the Czech Republic

Road freight is usually the best balance of cost and transit time for pallet delivery between the UK and the Czech Republic.

Pallets are collected in the UK, moved through established European road freight networks, cleared through customs, and delivered through the Czech delivery network.

  • Economy road freight: typically 4-6 working days door-to-door
  • Express road freight, where available: typically 2-4 working days
  • Suitable for single pallets, multi-pallet shipments, part loads and full loads
  • Ideal for regular commercial stock, machinery parts, retail goods and business freight

If predictable cost matters more than speed, road freight is usually the most practical option for Czech Republic pallet delivery.

Air Freight to the Czech Republic

Air freight is the fastest option when goods need to move urgently.

  • Express air freight: typically 1-3 working days door-to-door
  • Suitable for urgent pallets, parcels and high-value consignments
  • Useful for time-sensitive stock, samples and spare parts

Air cargo commonly routes via Václav Havel Airport Prague, with Brno and Ostrava also handling freight depending on the carrier and route.

Part Loads and Full Loads

For larger consignments, Pallet2Ship can arrange part load and full load services between the UK and the Czech Republic.

Part load (LTL) is suitable when you have several pallets but do not need a full vehicle.

Full load (FTL) is suitable when the shipment requires a dedicated vehicle, either because of volume, size, handling needs or urgency. For palletised freight, this commonly means larger consignments of 8 to 26 pallets.

Dedicated vehicles are often the best option for oversized pallets, heavier freight, fragile goods or time-sensitive commercial loads.

Some part load and full load services do not provide automated tracking in the same way as standard pallet network services. Shipment updates can be requested during business hours.

Coverage Across the Czech Republic

Pallet2Ship delivers to destinations across the Czech Republic, including major cities, commercial centres and regional areas. Collections are made anywhere in the UK — including the Scottish Highlands, the islands and remote areas — for delivery throughout the Czech Republic, and the same applies in reverse for imports.

  • Prague (Praha)
  • Brno
  • Ostrava
  • Plzeň (Pilsen)
  • Liberec
  • Olomouc
  • České Budějovice
  • Hradec Králové
  • Pardubice
  • Regional and rural areas

Transit times may vary depending on the final delivery address, access restrictions, customs clearance and the service selected.

Customs and Paperwork for UK-Czech Republic Shipments

The Czech Republic is an EU member state, but it uses the Czech koruna (CZK), not the euro.

Since Brexit, shipments between the UK and the Czech Republic require customs documentation. Goods moving in either direction should be declared clearly, with accurate descriptions, values, commodity codes and importer/exporter details.

You will usually need:

  • Commercial Invoice with clear goods descriptions, values and HS/commodity codes
  • Valid EORI numbers for commercial exporters and importers, as applicable
  • Incoterms confirming who is responsible for transport, duties and taxes
  • Product-specific certificates or licences for controlled goods
  • ISPM-15 compliant wooden pallets or packaging where required

The standard Czech VAT rate is currently 21%, and customs duties depend on the HS/commodity code, goods value, country of origin and any applicable trade preference.

DAP is commonly used for international pallet deliveries, where the receiver is responsible for import duties and taxes. DDP may be possible depending on the goods, route and service, but it should be confirmed before booking.

Accurate paperwork is essential. Incorrect descriptions, missing EORI details, wrong commodity codes or unclear Incoterms can lead to customs holds, inspections, storage fees or delivery delays.

Business and Residential Pallet Delivery to the Czech Republic

Pallet2Ship supports a range of address types and shipment profiles.

Business deliveries: warehouses, factories, shops, distributors and commercial premises

Residential deliveries: available on selected services

Business deliveries are usually the most straightforward, especially where both addresses have suitable loading access. Residential deliveries may need additional checks depending on the carrier, pallet size and delivery location.

The correct service depends on shipment size, address type, collection facilities, delivery access, urgency and the nature of the goods.

Preparing and Protecting Your Shipment

Every shipment receives the same level of care. From customs documents and clear shipping advice to helping you choose the right service, we focus on keeping your goods moving safely and on schedule.

⚠️ Important: Many delays occur because requirements are missed. Please read the service information shown under the blue “i” button on each quote and check the service icons carefully. They provide essential details about what is and isn't included (e.g., tail-lift, Amazon access, restricted goods). Always review these before booking.

* Extra charges only apply if shipment details are inaccurate — e.g. incorrect documentation, failed collections/deliveries, or under-declared weight/dimensions.

Case Studies about shipping to Czech Republic

Quick Summary

A UK-based engineering supplier contacted Pallet2Ship to arrange delivery of palletised components to a manufacturing site near Brno, Czech Republic. The shipment was suitable for road freight and the pallet was well packed, but the first version of the Commercial Invoice described the goods too generally and grouped several different product types under one broad customs line.Because the pallet contained mixed engineering parts — including metal brackets, rubber seals, electrical sensors and installation kits — the customs paperwork needed to be more specific before collection was confirmed.Pallet2Ship asked the customer to provide clearer itemised descriptions, more accurate HS/commodity code allocation, and confirmation that declared values and country of origin details matched the individual product lines. The documents were corrected before dispatch, the shipment moved on the correct road freight service, and delivery was completed without a customs hold.

Key Facts

  • Route: UK to Czech Republic
  • Origin: Birmingham, UK
  • Destination: Brno region, Czech Republic
  • Mode: Road freight
  • Goods: Mixed engineering and automotive components
  • Issue: Commercial Invoice too general for a mixed consignment
  • Resolution: Customs documentation corrected before collection

What Happened

A UK engineering supplier needed to send one pallet of components to a Czech manufacturing customer near Brno. The goods were required for scheduled maintenance work at the receiver’s site, so avoiding customs delays was important.
The shipment included:
  • Metal mounting brackets
  • Rubber sealing parts
  • Electrical sensors
  • Printed installation kits
  • Small boxed accessories
The customer entered the pallet weight and dimensions correctly and selected a suitable road freight service. The pallet itself was stable, securely wrapped and ready for collection.
The issue appeared during the paperwork review.
The first version of the Commercial Invoice grouped the goods under one broad description: “Machine parts — 1 pallet”.
The required invoice fields had been completed, but the description was too general for a mixed UK-to-EU consignment. Different product types can have different classifications, values, materials and country of origin details. When they are grouped together too broadly, customs may not have enough information to process the shipment smoothly.
Rather than allowing the pallet to move with unclear paperwork, Pallet2Ship asked for the Commercial Invoice to be corrected before confirming collection.

What the Customer Did Right

Booking and communication
  • Entered the correct pallet weight and dimensions
  • Selected a suitable road freight service for a non-urgent commercial shipment
  • Provided the Czech receiver’s full business address and contact details
  • Responded quickly when Pallet2Ship requested more customs information
  • Confirmed that the receiver was expecting the goods and ready to assist with import clearance
Physical preparation
  • Used a strong pallet suitable for international road freight
  • Packed small components in sealed cartons before palletising
  • Kept the load within the pallet footprint, with no overhang
  • Strapped and wrapped the pallet securely
  • Labelled the pallet clearly with the Czech delivery address
  • Had the pallet ready for collection within the standard UK collection window

What Went Wrong

1. The goods description was too vague
“Machine parts” was not detailed enough for a mixed consignment. Customs need to understand what the goods are, what they are made from, and what they are used for.
A clearer invoice separates the items properly, for example:
  • Steel mounting brackets for industrial machinery
  • Rubber sealing parts for automotive equipment
  • Electrical sensors for machinery control units
  • Printed installation kits and accessories
  • Clear goods descriptions reduce the chance of customs queries, inspections or clearance delays.
2. One broad HS code had been used for different product types
The pallet contained several categories of goods. Grouping everything under one broad commodity code created a risk that the shipment could be incorrectly classified.
Mixed pallets often need more than one HS/commodity code, especially when goods differ by material, function or intended use.
3. The declared values needed a clearer breakdown
The Commercial Invoice included values, but the line items were grouped too broadly. Because different product types were combined under one general description, the declared values did not clearly show how the total was made up.
For mixed engineering goods, the invoice should make it easy to understand what each item is, how many pieces are being shipped, and how the declared value relates to the goods on the pallet.
This does not mean the customer failed to enter a value. The issue was that the value breakdown did not give customs enough clarity for a mixed shipment.
4. Country of origin needs to be checked by product line
The Commercial Invoice included country of origin details, but the same origin had been applied across the full pallet without checking each product type.
For simple shipments, this may not be an issue. For mixed consignments containing different components, materials or accessories, the origin should be checked carefully for each relevant product line.
Country of origin matters because customs may use it when assessing duty treatment, restrictions or supporting document requirements. If the origin is entered incorrectly or too broadly, customs may ask for clarification before clearance can continue.

How Pallet2Ship Resolved It

Pallet2Ship reviewed the Commercial Invoice before collection and identified that the customs information was too general for a mixed UK-to-Czech Republic consignment.
The team asked the customer to revise the invoice by adding or confirming:
  • Separate line items for each type of product
  • Clear descriptions of the goods and their use
  • Correct HS/commodity codes for each line
  • Quantity, unit value, and total value aligned with each product type
  • Country of origin checked against each relevant product line
  • Exporter and importer EORI details
  • Incoterms showing who was responsible for duties and taxes
The customer supplied the corrected information the same day.
Once the documents were updated, Pallet2Ship confirmed the booking, checked that the receiver's details were complete, and released the shipment for collection.
The pallet was collected as planned, moved by road freight through the European network, cleared customs without further document queries, and was delivered to the Czech receiver within the expected transit time.

Results

  • Commercial Invoice corrected before dispatch
  • No customs hold caused by vague goods descriptions
  • No rebooking or return required
  • No destination storage charges
  • No delay to the Czech maintenance schedule
  • Delivery completed within the expected timeframe

What to Do vs What Not to Do

tick icon Do This

  • Describe each product clearly on the Commercial Invoice.
  • Use separate invoice lines for mixed goods.
  • Include accurate HS/commodity codes for each item type.
  • Show quantity, unit value, and total value for every relevant product line.
  • Check the country of origin against each product type.
  • Provide exporter and importer EORI details before dispatch.
  • Confirm the receiver is ready to support import clearance.

cross icon Don't Do This

  • Do not describe mixed goods only as “parts”, “spares” or “machine parts”.
  • Do not use one broad HS code if the pallet contains different product types.
  • Do not group different goods together if they should be declared separately.
  • Do not apply one country of origin across all goods without checking the contents.
  • Do not assume customs will understand the goods from the delivery address.
  • Do not wait until the shipment is held before correcting paperwork.

Why It Matters

Most customs problems are easier to prevent before collection than to fix after the freight has reached the destination country.

For UK-to-Czech Republic shipments, the Commercial Invoice is not just a formality. It tells customs what the goods are, how they should be classified, what value should be assessed, and who is responsible for import duties and taxes.

When a pallet contains mixed goods, vague descriptions can cause avoidable delays. A shipment described only as “machine parts” may look simple to the sender, but customs may need to know whether the goods are metal components, electrical items, rubber products, printed materials, tools, accessories, or something controlled.

In this case, the freight itself was ready to move. The issue was the paperwork. By checking the invoice before dispatch, Pallet2Ship helped the customer correct the problem early and avoid a customs hold in the Czech Republic.

The lesson is simple: when shipping mixed pallets internationally, describe the goods as customs need to see them, not just as the warehouse refers to them internally.
Getting the Commercial Invoice right before collection protects the transit time, reduces the risk of storage charges, and gives the receiver a much smoother import process.

Frequently Asked Questions

about shipping services to and from Czech Republic

Quotes & Pricing

The cost depends on weight, dimensions, service type, collection postcode and delivery postcode. Road freight is usually the most economical option for Czech Republic pallet delivery, while air freight is faster and priced accordingly. Use the Quote & Book system for live prices.
Yes. Air freight is faster and usually costs more than road freight. Express air services typically take 1–3 working days, while road freight is usually more cost-effective for standard pallet shipments and typically takes 4–6 working days.
The transport price shown at booking is final provided the declared weight, dimensions, address details and shipment information are accurate. Additional carrier charges may apply if the shipment is misdeclared, if collection or delivery fails, or if extra services are needed.
Not usually. The transport price covers the freight service selected at booking. Customs duties, import VAT, clearance charges or receiver-side import costs may still apply depending on the goods, value, Incoterms and service selected.
Often, yes. Sending several pallets together can reduce the cost per pallet, especially on part-load services or regular commercial shipments.
Yes. Most standard road and air freight services to and from the Czech Republic can be quoted instantly online. Larger part-load, full-load, oversized or specialist freight may require a tailored quote.
No. You can get a quote without creating an account. For international bookings, you may be asked to log in or create a free online account so customs documents, invoices and booking history can be managed correctly.
No hidden transport charges are added when the shipment details are accurate and the service requirements are met. Additional fees normally arise only when information is incorrect, access requirements are not declared, customs paperwork is incomplete, or collection or delivery cannot be completed as booked.
Payment is made securely online at the time of booking.

Transit Times & Routing

Road freight from the UK to the Czech Republic typically takes 4–6 working days. Express road services may be faster where available. Air freight usually takes 1–3 working days, depending on the service selected and customs clearance.
Air freight is the fastest option and is usually best for urgent, high-value or time-sensitive goods. Road freight is more economical and is well suited to most palletised shipments between the UK and the Czech Republic.
Most road freight to the Czech Republic moves through established European freight networks. Goods are collected in the UK, moved across the Channel, processed for customs, routed through European partner hubs and delivered through the Czech delivery network.
Yes. Since Brexit, shipments between the UK and the Czech Republic require customs clearance. Complete and accurate paperwork helps reduce the risk of customs delays, inspections or storage charges.
Yes. Peak trading periods, UK bank holidays, Czech public holidays, severe weather and high carrier demand can affect collection schedules, linehaul capacity and delivery times.

Packing & Pallet Requirements

Goods should be stacked securely, strapped to the pallet and wrapped from the pallet base upwards. Heavy items should sit at the bottom, corners and edges should be protected, and the pallet must be safe to lift, move and transport.
Yes. Solid wood pallets and wood packaging moving between Great Britain and the EU must be ISPM-15 compliant, heat-treated and correctly marked. This includes shipments to and from the Czech Republic.
Standard pallet services commonly accept up to 1,200 kg per pallet, depending on the service and carrier. Heavier freight may require part-load, full-load or specialist transport.
A forklift is usually required for pallets over 750 kg, oversized pallets, non-standard freight or goods that cannot be handled safely by tail-lift. Loading and unloading requirements should be declared before booking.
Tail-lift can usually be requested for suitable pallets under 750 kg, depending on the service and address type. Heavier or oversized freight may require a forklift or alternative loading arrangements.
Yes. Oversized pallets can be shipped to the Czech Republic, but they must be declared accurately at booking. Overhanging, unusually tall, wide or heavy freight may require a specialist road freight, part-load or full-load service.
Incorrect dimensions can lead to re-rating, delays, failed collection, failed delivery or additional carrier charges. Always measure the fully packed pallet, including any overhang.
Measure the loaded pallet, not just the pallet base. Record the full length, width, height and total weight, including goods, pallet, wrapping and any overhanging sections.

Customs & Documentation

Yes. The Czech Republic is an EU member state and the UK is outside the EU customs area, so shipments between the UK and the Czech Republic require customs documentation.
You will typically need a Commercial Invoice, accurate HS or commodity codes, full sender and receiver details, EORI information where required, and agreed Incoterms. Controlled or restricted goods may require additional certificates or approvals.
An EORI number is used by customs authorities to identify businesses involved in imports and exports. Most commercial UK–Czech Republic shipments require EORI details for the exporter and importer, depending on the service and shipment type.
HS codes, also called commodity codes, classify goods for customs. They help determine duties, VAT, restrictions and clearance requirements. Incorrect codes can cause delays, inspections or extra charges.
The Czech Republic has a standard VAT rate of 21%. Reduced VAT may apply to certain goods, but import VAT depends on the goods, HS code, customs value and import arrangements.
This depends on the Incoterms agreed between the sender and receiver. Under DAP, the receiver normally pays import duties and VAT. Under DDP, the sender pays them, but DDP is only available on selected services and must be confirmed before booking.
No. Commercial shipments require a Commercial Invoice with accurate goods descriptions, values and HS codes. Non-commercial shipments or personal effects may require a Proforma Invoice and detailed inventory instead, depending on the service selected.
Customs clearance can be completed quickly when paperwork is accurate. Timing depends on the goods, HS codes, declared value, customs workload and whether further checks are required.
The Czech Republic uses the Czech koruna, abbreviated CZK, not the euro.

Prohibited & Restricted Items

No. Pallet2Ship does not handle alcohol on any service.
Ambient, non-perishable food products may be possible on selected services, but some goods require certificates, approvals or additional checks. Perishable, chilled, frozen or temperature-controlled goods are not suitable for standard pallet services.
Batteries may be possible depending on the battery type, quantity, packaging and transport mode. Lithium batteries and battery-powered goods may be classed as dangerous goods, so you should contact us before booking and provide the relevant safety information.
Yes. Medical, pharmaceutical and healthcare products may require special approval, temperature control, licences or supporting documentation. These goods should not be booked without checking the service requirements first.
Personal effects can be sent to the Czech Republic using our DHL service only, with professional packing required. They must be declared clearly and supported by a detailed inventory or Proforma Invoice. Other carriers and standard pallet services do not accept personal effects.
Yes. Samples can be shipped, but they still need accurate descriptions, realistic customs values and the correct documentation. Declaring goods as samples does not remove the need for customs paperwork.
Dangerous goods may be possible by special arrangement only. They must not be booked as standard freight. Contact us first with the SDS, UN number, hazard class, packing group and quantity so we can check whether a suitable service is available.

Collection & Delivery

Collections usually take place Monday to Friday, typically between 08:00 and 18:00. Exact collection times depend on the carrier, route and service selected.
Same-day collection may be possible in some areas, depending on booking time, vehicle availability and the service selected. It is not guaranteed unless confirmed.
Yes. Residential delivery is available on selected services, subject to access conditions, pallet size, carrier restrictions and local delivery arrangements.
A local mobile or landline number is strongly recommended. It can help the carrier arrange delivery, resolve access issues and contact the receiver if needed.
Timed delivery options may be limited and depend on the route, carrier and service selected. Standard pallet services usually work on normal business-day delivery windows rather than exact appointment times.
Restricted access should be declared before booking. This includes narrow roads, pedestrian areas, limited parking, height restrictions, security gates, loading restrictions or no forklift access.
Yes. Delivery is available across the Czech Republic, including regional and rural areas. Transit times to outlying locations may be slightly longer.
Yes. Pallet2Ship can arrange delivery nationwide, including Prague, Brno, Ostrava, Plzeň, Liberec, Olomouc and regional areas.

Insurance & Protection

Yes. Insurance can be added during the booking process, covering goods valued between £100 and £50,000, with higher cover available on request.
Insurance can cover loss or damage during transit when goods are correctly packed and the claim falls within the policy terms. Exclusions and limits apply, so the goods must be declared accurately.
Cover for used personal effects is usually limited and may be restricted or unavailable depending on the service. Always check before booking if you are sending used personal belongings.
Any damage should be noted on the delivery paperwork where possible, and you should contact Pallet2Ship as soon as possible with photos, documents and shipment details. Claims are subject to the carrier and insurance conditions.

Service Types & Carriers

Carrier selection depends on the service, route and shipment profile. Pallet2Ship works with established freight and carrier networks, including DHL, FedEx, UPS, DSV, Hellmann, Kuehne+Nagel, Palletways and Pall-Ex where suitable.
Yes. Part-load services are available for larger consignments where you have several pallets but do not need a full vehicle. These services are useful for commercial stock, machinery, oversized freight and regular business movements.
Yes. Full-load services are available and may be required for high-volume shipments, oversized freight, fragile goods, heavy pallets or urgent dedicated movements.
Most services offer tracking. Standard pallet and air services usually provide tracking updates, while part-load, full-load and specialist freight updates may be available on request during business hours.
Yes. Pallet2Ship can help with parcels, bulky cartons, pallets and larger freight, depending on the service selected.

Enter the collection and delivery details, pallet quantity, weight and dimensions in the Quote & Book system. Then choose the service, confirm the paperwork, pay online and prepare the shipment for collection.
Changes may be difficult once a shipment has been collected or is in transit. Address changes can cause delays and may incur additional charges, so contact Pallet2Ship as soon as possible.
Cancellation terms depend on the timing, carrier and service selected. Contact Pallet2Ship immediately if you need to cancel.
If delivery is refused, the shipment may be held, returned or redirected, depending on the carrier and circumstances. Additional storage, handling, return or redelivery charges may apply.
No. Each delivery address requires a separate booking, because each shipment needs its own routing, labels, paperwork and delivery instructions.
For standard services, booking 24–48 hours before collection is usually recommended. Larger part-load, full-load, oversized or time-critical shipments should be arranged earlier where possible.

Practical Considerations

This may be possible if the selected service supports mixed consignments. If your shipment includes both parcels and pallets, check before booking so the correct service is selected.
Economy services usually use standard road freight and offer lower pricing over a slightly longer transit time. Express services prioritise speed and may use express road or air freight, depending on the shipment.
Yes. Someone must be available at the collection address to hand over the goods, provide access, and ensure the shipment is ready when the driver arrives.

Common causes include incomplete customs paperwork, missing EORI details, inaccurate HS codes, incorrect pallet dimensions, unsuitable packaging, restricted access, failed collections or customs checks.
Yes. Czech Republic pallet delivery is well suited to small and medium-sized businesses sending occasional shipments, regular stock, machinery, samples, e-commerce goods or commercial freight.
Not always. A Czech VAT number may be required for some business imports, but it depends on the importer, the goods, the Incoterms and the import arrangements. The importer may still need a valid EU EORI number for customs clearance.
