Packing Standards for Finland Pallet Delivery

Customs and Paperwork for UK-Finland Shipments

Finland is an EU member state and uses the euro.

Commercial shipments between Great Britain and Finland require customs documentation. Goods moving in either direction should be declared clearly, with accurate descriptions, values, classifications and importer or exporter details. Movements involving Northern Ireland may follow different customs and regulatory rules depending on the goods and route.

You will usually need:

• A Commercial Invoice with clear goods descriptions and values
• Valid EORI numbers for commercial exporters and importers, where applicable
• Accurate HS or commodity codes for the goods
• Incoterms confirming responsibility for transport, duties and taxes
• Product-specific certificates or licences for controlled goods
• ISPM-15-compliant wooden pallets or packaging where required

Finland's general VAT rate is 25.5%. Reduced and zero rates apply in some circumstances. Import VAT and customs duties depend on the goods, HS or commodity code, customs value, country of origin and any applicable trade preference.

DAP is commonly used for international pallet delivery, with the receiver responsible for import duties and taxes. DDP may be possible depending on the goods, route and service, but it must be confirmed before booking.

Accurate paperwork is essential. Incorrect descriptions, missing EORI details, wrong commodity codes or unclear Incoterms can lead to customs holds, inspections, storage fees or delivery delays.

Delivery to Northern Finland and the Åland Islands

Finland includes mainland, far-northern and island destinations.

Northern Finland and Lapland can involve longer transit times, particularly in winter, when snow, ice and long distances can affect road linehaul and final-mile delivery. Allow additional time for northern addresses during the colder months.

The Åland Islands are part of Finland and the EU customs territory, but they are outside the EU VAT area. A tax border therefore exists between Åland and mainland Finland and the rest of the EU VAT territory. Deliveries to Åland may require additional declarations, VAT handling, routing and final-mile checks and should always be confirmed before booking.
