Temporary Suspension of DHL Express Services to and from Canada
17-06-2025Please be advised that, due to ongoing labor actions in Canada and recent legislative changes (Bill C-58), DHL Express will temporarily suspend its shipping operations to and from Canada.
Key Dates to Note:
- Last Day for Shipment Collection: Wednesday, June 18, 2025
- Suspension of Services Begins: Friday, June 20, 2025, at 00:00 (local time)
This suspension affects only DHL Express services in Canada. Other DHL business units—including DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Supply Chain, and inbound deliveries for DHL eCommerce and Post & Parcel Germany—are not impacted and will continue operating as usual.
The disruption stems from ongoing negotiations between DHL Express and Unifor, the union representing a large portion of DHL Express operational staff and owner-operator drivers in Canada. Despite extensive discussions, a new agreement has not been reached, and new legislation now restricts DHL Express from implementing alternative solutions during this labor action.
DHL Express remains committed to reaching a fair and sustainable agreement and to resuming full service as soon as possible. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and share updates as more information becomes available.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding during this time. For urgent inquiries or assistance with your logistics planning, please reach out to your account representative or our support team.
Shipments to the USA update
29-04-2025The temporary suspension has been lifted as of Monday, 28 April 2025. Shipments will now be collected as usual.
DHL suspends high value US deliveries
22-04-2025DHL Express is temporarily halting deliveries to the United States valued over $800 (£603), citing a "significant increase" in customs procedures, triggered by the implementation of President Donald Trump's new tariff policy.
Starting the 21st of April, the logistics company will suspend shipments from businesses worldwide to U.S. consumers "until further notice."
However, shipments between businesses will continue, although DHL warned they too could experience delays.
Previously, packages worth up to $2,500 could be imported into the U.S. with minimal documentation. But with the recent tightening of customs regulations introduced alongside the new tariffs, that threshold has been reduced.
