United Pallet Network has become the first UK pallet network to go carbon neutral

Partnering with Carbon Neutral Britain, UPN offsets their carbon emissions by investing in carbon offsetting programmes on a quarterly basis, upfront. This means that all of their collections and deliveries are offset in real time.

In an industry so reliant on petroleum, UPN's initiative stands out as both bold and encouraging, setting a precedent for other networks and companies within the industry to follow.

Carbon Neutral Britain funds projects aimed at providing education, employment, and clean water in the developing world while also pledging on spending 10% of their budget on carbon offsetting and sustainable tree planting projects in Great Britain, despite the significantly higher cost. All projects are certified by the Gold Standard for Voluntary Emission Reductions (VER), Certified Emission Reductions (CER) and Verified Carbon Standard (VCS).

“At UPN, we have a real commitment to do what we can to help protect our planet,” said David Brown, UPN Managing Director. “Team UPN, all our staff, all our members, and all our suppliers are fully committed to helping us drive forward this very important initiative. Furthermore, UPN are hoping that by being the first network to go Carbon Neutral we will encourage others to follow so that, as a sector, we can all make a real difference.”

“This new partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain is UPNs commitment to optimise our ethical position in this crucial area. UPN has a moral obligation to do as much as we can. This is in no way the easy option, however, at the moment, it’s the most impactful way we can make a difference.”

Established in 2001, UPN has over ninety members collecting from and delivering to the whole of the UK and has partnered with reputable organisations across Europe, offering services to 26 countries.
