COVID-19 Updates

Coronavirus Service Updates

Palletways

As we know, there are many news reports right now that talk about countries closing their borders to minimise the spread of the Corona Virus, and clearly this has caused disruption across Europe. If you wish to send a consignment between countries, please read the information below to ensure your expectations are met. For all customers paying to ship a consignment from one country to another, you must:

1. Check that the delivery or collection point is open for business and that the pallet will be ready.
2. It is critical to have the right contact details of the consignee, full phone number and name – please ensure you double-check this information.
3. Consignments that cannot be delivered as not open or the area is restricted for access will end up being either returned or stored, this will be chargeable and there may not be a choice of storage due to capacity constraints.
4. Due dates will need to be extended so that realistic service levels can be established. It is likely that our premium service will be 1 day slower and the economy service up to 1-2 days slower, however, this will depend on consignment specifics.
5. Pallets will not automatically be returned without Palletways customer service contacting the payor for instruction.
6. We are putting in procedures to work around contamination issue so the POD process could vary by country.

Update- 18th of March: As the situation regarding Coronavirus has continued to develop across the UK, we are now taking sensible precautions to reduce the risks whilst ensuring there is minimal disruption to our operational performance.
One area identified as a concern for both the delivery points and our drivers, when making collections or deliveries, is the collection of signatures from the consignees. This act provides close contact, between the two parties and increases the risk of infection. We are therefore looking to retain our current EPOD and paper signature capture that is currently in place but add an additional process which will be accepted as a Proof of Delivery when signature capture is not possible. In such events, we are looking for your authority to enable collections or deliveries to commence without signature until risks from the Coronavirus are controlled. In all cases, a name, date and time will be obtained but will be printed on the Proof of Delivery documentation by the driver. We look for your support during this difficult period and feel it is necessary to take these preventative measures to minimise people contact and interaction, reducing risks relating to Coronavirus entering our working environments. As the situation changes these terms will be updated.
